The prize for the digital oilfield is clear: meeting the challenge of the increasing global demand for energy, economically and in a way that is friendly to the environment. Realizing this goal will depend on integrating technologies - new and existing - and work processes across the hydrocarbon supply chain. Improving reservoir modeling, optimizing production, and increasing reserve replacement, all require integration across multiple systems and disciplines. However, the challenges to integration are significant, and new technology is needed to address these obstacles. The industry has lacked an economically viable, truly flexible solution to these challenges, until now. Enterprise Enabler® represents a dramatic leap in integration technology, providing intelligent connectivity throughout the digital oilfield, without the need for custom programming.

Enterprise Enabler, an Overview
Revolutionary Connectivity
| Built on efficient technical underpinnings compared to traditional application integration tools, Enterprise Enabler reduces time and cost of integration by as much as 70%. Historically, even out-of-the-box "adapters" require some degree of customization and modifications with changes in the computing infrastructure. Using next generation technology, Enterprise Enabler leaps over the conventional approach of using adapters, resulting in an intelligent modular "plug-and-play" or "point and click" integration framework. This new technology significantly reduces the time and cost of integration for all types of systems, including real-time, production and back-office or enterprise systems. This dramatic efficiency improvement is enabled by a new technology called synchronapse™, an ultra-light infrastructure for systems integration. Consequently, Enterprise Enabler can easily connect to any business or operational system while supporting complex data transformation, manipulation and reporting requirements. Connectivity is not limited to specific applications, protocols, or software vendors. Enterprise Enabler has been designed to accommodate the diverse and dynamic needs of the petroleum industry and therefore supports WITSML, PIDX, OPC and other communication standards across the digital oil field, as well as being SOA compliant. |

An Intelligent Nervous System
The digital oilfield/hydrocarbon supply chain is dynamic, and the digital landscape must manage change effectively. Supported by the patented Integration Integrity Process™ (IIP), Enterprise Enabler acts as a "nervous system", continuously monitoring changes in data flows and data sources throughout the integrated environment. Enterprise Enabler identifies all the elements and stakeholders involved, and launches a workflow management process that notifies stakeholders of the impact, including external dependencies. Logic can be applied across multiple data sources (systems) to monitor data for acceptable min/max ranges, including ranges of inferred or calculated values based on raw data. Multiple time-slices of data - static vs. real-time vs. daily averages - of any data set can be monitored, compared, and evaluated for the business and operational impact of variances.
A Data Transformation Engine
Data in the digital oilfield exists in multiple forms - hierarchical, relational, date/time stamped, and others. Enterprise Enabler contains a powerful transformation engine that converts raw data to meaningful information by automating the task of converting data accessing, converting, and notifying appropriate parties. Types of conversions performed include…
- Source transformations - Example: From various database formats to HTML, XML, spreadsheet, etc.
- Complex data aggregation and manipulation based on formulas and/or business logic.
- Many-to-many conversions and mapping
- Unit conversion - Examples: One business partner uses metric while another uses imperial units or differing monetary exchange rates
Process Designer
Optimizing the digital oilfield requires integrated work processes and decision support tools that derive information from multiple sources. Effective decision-making in response to real-time events is enabled when controls are linked with automatic event detection and notification. Enterprise Enabler's process designer can report variances in key performance indicators and launch specific work processes to, for example, notify stakeholders of impact and dependencies, saving hours of finding and analyzing data while an asset may be under performing. Processes can be quickly mapped out in a visually-driven, drag-and-drop layout, not requiring extensive software development knowledge, and deployed with a 'one-click' launch. By combining the visually designed work process with synchronapse connectivity, the return on investment in people, technology, and processes can be maximized.
